Adrienne will provide an update on CareerSource Florida’s key workforce initiatives, how the state is working to strengthen Florida’s talent pipeline, and what these efforts mean for businesses right here in our community. We’ll also explore the resources and opportunities available to local employers and how businesses can play an active role in shaping the workforce they need to grow and succeed.

About Adrienne Johnston:

In February 2023, the CareerSource Florida Board of Directors unanimously appointed Adrienne Johnston as President and CEO. As the Governor’s designated organization responsible for workforce policy and investment, CareerSource Florida equips local workforce boards with resources to support businesses and job seekers on a journey to economic success.

Johnston is leading transformational change within the CareerSource Florida network. Her leadership has resulted in improved outcomes through enhanced collaboration across the state workforce system. She has overseen the implementation of the Reimagining Education and Career Help (REACH) Act priorities, including the Credentials Review Committee, the Master Credentials List, and the Florida Workforce System Transformation Plan. Johnston’s extensive experience in workforce services and applied research enable her to take a strategic approach to positioning Florida as a global leader in talent development.

Prior to her current role, Johnston served as Deputy Secretary of Workforce Services and Chief Economist for FloridaCommerce (Commerce). As Deputy Secretary, she championed a data-driven strategy for process improvement and policy development in reemployment assistance and workforce training services. As Chief Economist, she broadened the Bureau of Workforce Statistics and Economic Research’s scope to deliver high-quality data analysis, engaging data visualizations, and applied research to the agency and stakeholders statewide.

Before joining Commerce in 2015, Johnston served as a Manager for Evergreen Solutions, where she analyzed local labor markets and developed tailored compensation and benefit plans for community colleges and local governments. Earlier, as Labor Market Research Director for Brandt Information Services, she expanded her team’s offerings beyond data collection to include data visualization tools, survey design, and data analysis.

Johnston holds both a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science and a master’s degree in applied economics from Florida State University. She resides in Tallahassee with her husband, daughter, and two hound dogs.
